Community excellence nominations sought
Holyoke Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for its annual community excellence awards. Categories include:
— New Business of the Year: Any business that was a stand-out performer in 2021 and has started his/her/their business in the Holyoke area during the past three years.
— Business of the Year: Any business that shined above all others during 2021.
— Employee of the Year: Any employee in Holyoke that gave above-and-beyond service, heightened dedication to their position and/or just stands out from all of the rest.
— Youth of the Year: Any individual age 18 years and under that excelled in scholastics, community service, athletics and/or general dedication to the community during 2021.
— Outstanding Citizen of the Year: Any individual that made a significant difference and/or impactful contribution to the community during 2021.
— Outstanding Citizen of the Years: Any individual that for many years has made a significant difference and/or impactful contribution to the community.

Kids to take the stage Tuesday
A music program featuring Holyoke students in kindergarten, second grade and fourth grade is set for Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. in the JR/SR high auditorium.
School break begins next Wednesday
After morning classes Wednesday, Dec. 22, Holyoke School District will begin its Christmas break. Classes resume Tuesday, Jan. 4.
