Blood drive set for Monday

A Red Cross blood drive, hosted by Holyoke High School, is set for Monday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Holyoke First Baptist Church, 1000 E. Johnson St. To sign up, contact Ashley Clayton at 970-520-9180 or visit redcrossblood.org.

 

Beekeepers club offering seed packets

High Plains Community Beekeepers Club is offering seed packets of a western seed mix that will help build more bee habitat in yards. The seed packets have both annuals and perennials in the mix. This is a full sun mix that is to be broadcast over 100 square feet. March is an ideal time to plant the seed.

Those interested in seed packets should contact the Phillips County Extension office at 970-854-3616.

HPBC holds meetings four times a year in January, March, September and November on the fourth Saturday of the month. The first meeting of 2022 is Saturday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m. at Health Essentials in Burlington. Mekelburgs featured in Yuma art show

“Acrylics & Metal” will feature the abstract acrylics of Cheryl Mekelburg and the metal art of Gaylord Mekelburg, two lifelong Yuma residents. The art show will run from Feb. 4-March 6 at the Orphanage, 300 S. Main St., Yuma. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sunday, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. The show’s opening will be Friday, Feb. 4, from 5-8 p.m., with light refreshments served.
