Look inside for Emerald Awards section; special program is Thursday evening

Holyoke School District, The Holyoke Enterprise and sponsoring partners are excited to present the 13th annual Emerald Awards that recognize excellence in education.

Look inside this week’s newspaper or CLICK HERE for a special section highlighting the three award winners. Kathi Stanley, an elementary educational paraprofessional, is the Rookie of the Year. Sarah Bergner, a sixth grade teacher, has been awarded Leader Among Us. Charlee Kleve, a JR/SR high English teacher, is the recipient of the Heart Award.

The community is invited to the Emerald Awards program Thursday, April 21, at 7 p.m. at the Peerless Theatre followed by refreshments in the multi-purpose room.

Kindergarten registration is Monday

Parents of children planning to attend kindergarten next year need to call the Holyoke Elementary School office at 970-854-3411 to schedule an appointment for Monday, April 25, between 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Families should take the child’s immunization records and birth certificate to the scheduled appointment.

Brief power outage planned for next Tuesday and Thursday mornings

City of Holyoke and Highline Electric Association are announcing a planned power outage for next week.

There will be no power Tuesday, April 26, and Thursday, April 28, from approximately 6-6:30 a.m. both days.

The area affected starts at Paoli and goes both north and south to the county lines and extends east to 7 miles east of Holyoke, including the city of Holyoke.

There will be maintenance conducted on the Frenchman substation those two days.
