Youth invited to ‘Bye Bye Birdie’ auditions

Phillips County Players is hosting auditions for “Bye Bye Birdie” on Wednesday, June 1, at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 4, at 2 p.m. and Sunday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church basement, 230 E. Furry, Holyoke.

Anyone age 20 and under who is interested in acting, sound, lighting, stage managing, set design, music or choreography is encouraged to attend.

The performance is set for Friday-Sunday, Aug. 19-21.

 

Register for reading program next week

“Celebrate the World! Celebrate You!” is the theme for this year’s summer reading program, and kids are invited to travel the world at Heginbotham Library in June. Participants age 2-10 can register Tuesday, June 7, at 1 p.m. at the library, 539 S. Baxter Ave. in Holyoke. Registration for teens age 11-17 is set for Thursday, June 9, at 1 p.m.

The kids program will meet at the library on Tuesdays, June 14, 21 and 28, at 1 p.m., and the teen program will meet Thursdays, June 16, 23 and 30, at 1 p.m. For more information, call the library at 970-854-2597.

 

Wheat field days scheduled

Colorado State University Crops Testing is excited for the 2022 Wheat Field Days, which will include a great set of public and private wheat varieties to show off in field trials.

The events are set for Thursday, June 9, at Walsh, Lamar and Brandon; Friday, June 10, at Burlington and Genoa; Monday, June 13, at Wiggins and Roggen; and Tuesday, June 14, at Julesburg, Yuma and Akron.
