4 candidates file for school board seats
Incumbent Pat Wiebers, Trampas Hutches, Sue Razo and Jonathan Kleve have filed nomination petitions as candidates for the three open seats on the Holyoke Re-1J Board of Education, according to election official Brenda Krueger. The election will be Nov. 7.
HHS sets auditions for “Spamalot” musical
Holyoke High School Drama Department is already making preparations for its fall musical production, “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” which will take the stage Nov. 17-18. Director Bret Miles and music director Pat Wiebers will be holding auditions for high school students Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 11-12. Inspired by the classic comedy film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” the musical tells the legendary tale of King Arthurs’ quest to find the Holy Grail but diverts from the tradition versions of the tale for a hilarious stage production.

Books of every kind can be found at the Book Bonanza hosted by Friends of the Library at Heginbotham Library’s carriage house Saturday, Sept. 9, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Scott recovering after liver transplant, remains in intensive care in Aurora
Phillips County employee and Holyoke mayor pro-tem Kevin Scott, who was hospitalized Aug. 22 awaiting a liver, received a liver transplant Friday, Sept. 1.
He is still in the intensive care unit at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora and is working to get through the next steps in his recovery. He sends his thanks for all the prayers.
