Look inside for Emerald Awards section; special program is Thursday evening

Holyoke School District, The Holyoke Enterprise and sponsoring partners are excited to present the 14th annual Emerald Awards that recognize excellence in education.

Look inside this week’s newspaper for a special section highlighting the three award winners. Kali Hines, a JR/SR high science teacher, is the Rookie of the Year. Lori Nelson, JR/SR high business education teacher, has been awarded Leader Among Us. Brenda Krueger, the payroll director/BOE secretary, is the recipient of the Heart Award.

The community is invited to the Emerald Awards program Thursday, April 20, at 7 p.m. at the Peerless Theatre followed by refreshments in the multipurpose room.

 

Kindergarten registration is Monday

Parents of children planning to attend kindergarten next year need to call the Holyoke Elementary School office at 970-854-3411 to schedule an appointment for Monday, April 24, between 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Families should take the child’s immunization records and birth certificate to the scheduled appointment.

 

Museum take-apart day is May 1 and 5

Phillips County Museum is hosting Take-Apart Day on Monday, May 1, and Friday, May 5, from 1-3 p.m. at the museum at 109 S. Campbell Ave. in Holyoke. 

Kids ages 6-18 are invited to dismantle a variety of unusable appliances and other devices. Ages 6-8 must be accompanied by an adult. Tools and appliances are provided, but kids are welcome to bring their own as well.
