Students get day off Monday
    Students in Holyoke schools will not have class Monday, Jan. 15, due to a teacher inservice.

Chili cook-off heats up in Venango
    The Venango, Nebraska, Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its second annual chili cook-off and cinnamon roll meal Saturday, Jan. 20, from 5-7 p.m. at the Venango Legion. The event is free, but freewill donations will be accepted. The department is raising funds for a LUCAS CPR machine. Secret judges will help determine the prize-winning chili. Enroll for individual health plans by Jan. 12
    The Division of Insurance reminds Coloradans who buy individual health insurance plans (not through an employer) that they have until Friday, Jan. 12, to enroll in coverage for 2018. After that date, people who want to buy an individual plan, either through the state’s health insurance marketplace or Connect for Health Colorado or directly from an insurance company, cannot do so without experiencing a life-changing event, such as marriage, divorce, the birth of a child or loss of employer-sponsored coverage.
    Colorado is one of a dozen states that operates its own health insurance exchange, and one of just nine states that has extended the deadline to purchase individual health plans past the Dec. 15 deadline for the federal online exchange, healthcare.gov.
