‘Spring’ clocks forward this weekend
    Daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 12. Don’t forget to turn clocks one hour forward Saturday evening, March 11.
    
Fishing clinic to reel in fun Friday, March 17

    The Lions Fishin’ Hole is celebrating 25 years, and there’s no better way to celebrate than a day of fishing! Holyoke Lions Club in conjuction with Colorado Parks & Wildlife will be sponsoring a fishing clinic Friday, March 17, from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The pond is located 1.5 miles east of Holyoke’s stoplight on Highway 6.
    The clinic is geared toward kids age 15 and under, and no license is necessary for the kids. Parents/guardians are required for kids age 7 and under. Adults need a license if holding the rod/reel. Bring a rod/reel, bait and a bucket.
    There is no fee to participate, and lunch is provided. Participants will learn fishing rules and regulations, different types of fish and the types of casting. There will also be a casting contest, and participants will receive a gift.
    
School pantry seeks food, toiletry items
    A pantry at Holyoke JR/SR High is providing items for students who need them for use at home or at school. Food items needed include snack crackers, individual-size mac and cheese/ramen noodles, lunchables, etc. Toiletry donations could be soap, toothpaste, tampons/pads, hair products, etc. Boxes for donations are placed at Bank of Colorado, Holyoke Marketplace, Printers Paper and More, Heidi’s and Carniceria Aldama.
    
School break begins Thursday
    Because of a state basketball day off and the scheduled spring break, Holyoke schools will not have class Thursday, March 9, through Friday, March 17. Classes resume Monday, March 20.
