Mental health training offered in Holyoke
A free Mental Health First Aid Course is set for Wednesday, Sept. 19, and Thursday, Oct. 18, from 1-5 p.m. on both days at the Phillips County Event Center Ortner Room. Participants must attend both days of training to become certified on March 6, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The event is hosted by Melissa Memorial Hospital, Colorado Regional Health Connectors, Centennial Mental Health Center and Northeast Colorado Health Department.
Mental health challenges — such as depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance use — are shockingly common in the United States. In fact, more than 1 in 5 American adults will have a mental health problem in any given year.
Mental Health First Aid Training provides knowledge and skills to help individuals assisting someone developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.
