Adopt a family this Christmas
Zion Lutheran Church in cooperation with Phillips County Department of Human Services is asking community members to adopt a family this Christmas. Those interested should call the church at 970-854-2615 by Monday, Dec. 3.
The church will provide the address, names and kids’ ages for a local individual or family. Participants can then purchase gifts, which will be added to items provided/gathered by the church — food, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, paper products, toys and books. This box can be picked up at the church on Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 1-4 p.m., or Thursday, Dec. 20, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. so participants can deliver it to the adopted families the week before Christmas. Zion Lutheran is also happy to accept any monetary donations for the program.

Elementary music program to spread Christmas cheer next Thursday
Next Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m., the Holyoke High School auditorium will be filled with holiday songs from Holyoke Elementary School students. Kindergartners and second-graders will be featured in fun Christmas tunes about everything from snowmen to gingerbread houses, and the fourth-graders will perform a musical play called “The Reindeer Whisperer.”

Tickets now on sale for Pancakes with Santa
Santa Claus is comin’ to town Saturday, Dec. 15, for the Peerless Theatre’s Pancakes with Santa event. The open house all-you-can-eat breakfast will be from 8:30-11 a.m. in the Peerless gym. Children can take pictures with Santa and meet his reindeer, too! Adult and kids’ tickets are available from the Peerless concessions stand when it is open for movies.
