Arts council announces 2022-23 concert series

Phillips County Arts Council is pleased to announce the 2022-23 concert series. Concerts will be held at the Heginbotham Auditorium at Holyoke High School.

The season will open Wednesday, Sept. 21, with How Sweet It Is! A Heart-Warming Tribute to James Taylor. Nashville, Tennessee-based Steve Leslie, an award-winning singer, songwriter and guitarist, performs favorites from Taylor’s incredible catalog of songs. His warm baritone and exceptional guitar technique with piano accompaniment will make this a spellbinding concert event.

The season will continue with The Patsy Cline Project on Tuesday, Feb. 28. Lisa Brokop’s warm, rich voice and accompanying band pay homage to one of country music’s greatest ladies with many of Cline’s classic hits like “Sweet Dreams” and “Walkin’ After Midnight.”

Brokop, a Canadian who resides in Nashville, is a songwriter as well as a singer. She enjoys the opportunity to honor Cline and her incredible music. Program highlights include “I Fall to Pieces,” “Your Cheating Heart,” “Crazy,” “Back in Baby’s Arms” and many other favorites.

Backtrack Vocals will perform Wednesday, March 15. They are a five-person professional a cappella singing group that transforms popular pop, funk, Motown, standards and Broadway songs with all-new vocal and beatbox arrangements.

Capitalizing on their fresh sound, they began their musical journey by launching a YouTube channel, where their unique videos featuring new arrangements of familiar songs brought them millions of new fans. Highlights of their show include “Walking on Sunshine,” “I’ll Be There,” “Sweet Caroline,” a “Lean on Me” medley and many more.

A fourth concert by String Fling will complete the season. Date, time and place will be announced later. String Fling is a four-piece Nebraska-based band playing a variety of folk, classic country and original songs. The band has developed a loyal following in the western Nebraska area and is currently the house band at The Most Unlikely Place cafe and art gallery in Lewellen, Nebraska.

PCAC is pleased to present this season of amazing performances and looks forward to welcoming returning members as well as new members.
