Avoid a ‘Grinch’ visit

    It’s that time of year where shoppers begin ordering Christmas gifts for friends and family. Many use the convenience of online shopping, having packages delivered to the home. Each year, some people have the delivery made but find out later it was stolen from the front of the residence.
    Holyoke Police Department would like to recommend a few tips to help residents avoid a “Grinch” visit:
    —Request a sign-only provision with the delivery.
    —Have the delivery made to one’s place of employment.
    —Take advantage of email and delivery alerts to smartphones so shoppers can be notified when the package has been delivered.
    —Have a neighbor pick up the package.
