Bell ringers needed

It’s almost that time of year where jingles can be heard in the frosty air.

The Salvation Army red kettle campaign is ringing in a new round of holiday giving, and volunteers are needed in Holyoke with bell ringing time slots available starting Monday, Dec. 6, and running through Thursday, Dec. 23.

The red kettle will be set up outside the Peerless Theatre on Monday, Dec. 6, for Country Christmas and will be outside the doors of Holyoke Marketplace for the subsequent time slots.

Bell ringers can sign up for one-hour slots Mondays-Fridays from 4-7 p.m. or two-hour slots Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sundays from 1-3 p.m. Two volunteers are needed for each shift, and it’s preferred that at least one is 18 or older.

To sign up, visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0c45aaae2ca7f58-bell. Volunteers are asked to view a short COVID-19 video available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xbnawfjiOI before signing up.

Donations to Holyoke’s red kettle campaign will stay local, and funds are used year-round. Instead of putting money in the kettle, donors can also use Google Pay and Apple Pay on their smartphones by scanning the QR code on the kettle stand.
