Bunker Bash at Ballyneal drives for child care initiative funds

Holyoke Community Childcare Initiative, serving Holyoke with child care, family financial assistance and the community’s well-being held its inaugural Bunker Bash at Ballyneal Golf Club in early August as golfers gathered to raise funds in what will be an annual event.

Held in concert with the Ballyneal Foundation, tournament chair Sheryl Engleby rallied more than a dozen women golfers from Colorado and throughout the country to launch what she sees as an annual event with “nothing but growth for the future and for the Holyoke community.”

“I am thrilled with the response of Holyoke, the participants, the Holyoke Childcare Initiative and the Ballyneal Golf Club,” Engleby said.

“The outpouring of heartfelt support to the challenges presented in a small and vibrant community such as Holyoke is touching and inspirational. It was the first of many successful efforts combining a tremendous golf event with a magnificent cause in the community that Ballyneal calls home.”

HCCI was created in 2018 after concerned business leaders and community members came together to discuss a problem that had long been at the forefront of conversation within the community: the availability of safe and affordable child care.
