Church bells silent no more

The Holyoke First United Methodist Church recently received new digital chimes at the end of June. The new chimes replaced an old eight-track system from the ’80s. The new chime system came to a grand total of $11,000. Many generous donors contributed as a way to remember family members. You’ll now hear a large array of chimes, bells and even bagpipes playing various songs every day at noon and 6 p.m. as well as 9 a.m. on Sundays. — Emmy Brown | The Holyoke Enterprise
