City provides new cookie, art classes

With much of the City of Holyoke Recreation Department activities shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, director Victoria Dunker is pleased to be able to offer a cookie class and art camp in the next couple of weeks.

These two activities allow for easier social distancing as youth have their own paint brushes and cooking space in the classes. That provides a huge difference from ball programs.

Dunker believes it’s time to start opening recreation back up, and it’s clear that the youth of the community are anxious to have something to do.

Dunker opened registration for an art camp early this week, and it was almost immediately filled. Holyoke JR/SR High art teacher Jade Goldenstein will be teaching the class in Homesteaders Park from June 23-25 in two age settings each day: K-2 and 3-6.
