City receives commendation

In recognition of its support in electric power restoration efforts, and for providing mutual aid assistance to Haxtun after a June storm uprooted trees and broke power poles, the City of Holyoke has received a national commendation from the American Public Power Association.

The commendation was established in 2018 to recognize public power utilities that have answered the call for assistance and aided another community in restoring power to its customers.

Both Holyoke and Haxtun are members of the Nebraska Municipal Power Pool, which is composed of nearly 200 member communities across six states in the region. The NMPP is a service organization that includes a mutual aid agreement among the member communities, and the organization also adheres to the core philosophies of local control and working together to provide reliable, cost-based energy and energy-related services.
