A club fit for kings and queens

Local chess enthusiasts have a new meeting place that provides them the opportunity to get together and play, learn and share their love of the game.

The local chess club meets every Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at Heginbotham Library.  The club has been meeting since Feb. 9, and donations of chess sets and clocks are welcome.

Started by Kristen Rosales and her 16-year-old son, Corben, the club is open to all ages and skill levels.

Kristen said the credit for starting the club goes to her son. “He loves chess, but there was no place in town for him to play anyone,” she said. “I knew other people in town had to love the game as well.”
