Coleen Lindgren publishes new children’s book, ‘Caterpillars Can’t Fly’

Caryl Harvey provides color illustrations

The Bible is full of allegories and parables, and “Caterpillars Can’t Fly” was written as one more allegory to excite the imagination and inspire young readers to understand the mysteries of the kingdom of God by learning more about the creation.
This new children’s book was written by local author Coleen Lindgren and illustrated by Holyoke’s Caryl Harvey.
“Caterpillars Can’t Fly” is available in Holyoke at Inklings and More or online through Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
The book, published through Christian Faith Publishing, is Lindgren’s first published work, but it’s certainly not her first writing experience. She has penned numerous writings and poems — catalogued at blogspot.com — explaining her thoughts on the transition between the kingdom of man and the kingdom of God.
This book has been years in the making, and finding someone to illustrate it was the last piece of the puzzle. Lindgren hopes to continue publishing books, using her free time to write and research while she’s not doing physical therapy work.

Book introduces kids to Christie the caterpillar
Caterpillars can’t fly. That’s a fact that anyone with even an elementary schooling in biology knows. But it is a fact that Christie refused to believe.
Christie was a little caterpillar who had developed a personal relationship with Mr. Sun and had been told that she would grow up to be a butterfly that could fly. She was bound and determined to make her own wings and fly so she could give some other caterpillars a piece of her mind.
Mr. Sun warned her that she needed to wait until the Creator changed her on the inside before she could fly, but she wasn’t convinced.
