Commissioner Harlan Stern elected chairman of board
Phillips County Board of Commissioners voted to elect Harlan Stern as chairman, the board announced at its Jan. 30 meeting.
Joe Kinnie had served on the board for eight years and was chairman for four nonconsecutive years. He lost his bid for re-election as District 1 commissioner to Terry Hofmeister in June.
Commissioners Stern and Don Lock presented an engraved gavel made by Lock to Kinnie. The gavel had been used by Kinnie during his time as chairman.
Webster to work at pavilion
The board hired Deanna Webster to serve as reservationist for the Bank of Colorado Pavilion, where she will be handling bookings and helping parties who reserve the space.
Webster formerly worked in the county administration office, where she performed many of the duties of her new position. As reservationist, she will be responsible for pavilion work exclusively.
Webster was replaced in her administrative support capacity by Patrick Mitchell on Jan. 28.
Funds committed for county emergency plan
Commissioners also agreed to a match commitment for the Northeast Colorado Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan, including $1,794.26 of in-kind services and $1,500 in cash.
The funds will go toward coordinating a plan for several northeast Colorado counties that will identify local hazards and mitigation strategies.
Phillips County Emergency Manager Bob Heldenbrand later said the plan is required by the State and that an updated 2019 plan will be necessary if the County chooses to seek certain federal funds.
