Commissioners see personnel changes in County departments

Locals doing business at Phillips County Department of Human Services can expect to see a new director working there. At its Nov. 19 meeting, the Phillips County Board of Commissioners appointed Lori Lundgren as the interim director of DHS, effective Nov. 15. Former director Penny Verhoeff’s last day was Nov. 14.

At their Nov. 7 meeting, commissioners approved a new job classification for an assistant director at the communication center and promoted Jill Anderson to fill the position.

The new classification includes dispatcher duties, entry and maintenance of the National Incident-Based Reporting System and the sex offender registration program for the county’s three law enforcement agencies, assisting with state and federal audits and validation of hot files, and maintaining the 911 and WENS database.

Across multiple County departments, several adjustments were made to employees’ level of compensation. Those employees include Lundgren, Anderson, Tiffany Watson, Ana Olivas, Pam Jensen, Nick Flaa and Carrie Anderson.

Occupancy agreement, subdivision exemption approved

On Oct. 31, the board of commissioners conditionally approved a roadway occupancy agreement with Viaero Fiber Networks LLC regarding telecommunication fiber-optic cable lines at:

— County Road 43 from Section 34-6-44 to Section 33-6-44.

— County Road 10 from Section 12-6-44 to Section 10-6-44.

— County Road 20 from Section 20-7-44 to Section 19-7-44.

— County Road 37 from Section 19-7-44 to Section 18-7-44.

The board’s final approval is contingent upon receiving a satisfactory inspection of the completed work from road and bridge manager Mike Salyards.

Commissioners also approved a subdivision exemption from the Estate of Donald M. Olson to Dustin W. and Megan L. Sprague. The 10-acre farmstead is located at the SE quarter of Section 30 Township 8N, Range 44W.

The board also approved services from TriTech Software Systems to upgrade the 911 system at a cost of $3,192.
