Community generosity praised; loved ones honored at Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Legacy of Thanks

Community generosity was celebrated and praised, and loved ones for which memorial funds were designated were honored at the Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation annual Legacy of Thanks Sunday, Nov. 3.

Following a light lunch, awards were presented to specially-selected individuals and businesses, with MMHF board members assisting in the presentations.

Holyoke FFA was presented the Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award for their assistance with clean-up at the 2019 Legacy Event.

Outstanding Adult honors went to Linda Alberts, who served for 10 years on the MMHF board and also assisted on the Legacy Event fundraising and event committees for a number of years.

Bank of Colorado and branch president Brian Gales were honored as Outstanding Business. The bank reached the gold level ($25,000-$49,999) in the Legacy Society and has been very generous at the annual Legacy Events.

Recognized for helping the foundation have record-breaking Legacy Events, Gayln Einspahr was presented the Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year honor.

MMH dietary department manager Sue Razo was named MMH Angel because of her generous spirit and heart. She and her crew enthusiastically catered the Legacy Event dinner two years ago, and she helps prepare for Legacy of Thanks events.

When Razo was hired, the MMH dietary department was serving 10,000 meals a year. Last year, they served 22,000, and they’re on track to serve 25,000 this year.

Holyoke High School senior Lauren Bergner accepted the Making a Difference award for her last-minute willingness to help serve the MMHF cajun boil this past September.
