Conde, Perez compete in national wool contest

Shyanne Conde of Holyoke and Karla Perez of Wray traveled to San Diego, California, to compete in the National Make It With Wool Contest and represent Colorado as the 2021 senior and junior ambassadors. The contest was held Jan. 20-23 in conjunction with the American Sheep Industry (ASI) Convention.

Conde modeled her camel-colored coat and Perez modeled her sky blue and beige plaid suit. They both received a swatch of Pendleton wool as well as some other gifts and notions to help them to continue their sewing adventures. Conde made the top 10 seniors and won fourth runner-up.

Forty-one junior and senior ambassadors from 25 states were in attendance. Each contestant took their state-winning wool garments to be judged for construction, modeled them and interviewed with a panel of judges. A fashion show and awards ceremony took place after a banquet finale of the convention.
