Country Christmas is Monday

Country Christmas is right around the corner. Monday evening, Dec. 5, downtown Holyoke will be busy with shopping and sales, Santa, snacks and hot drinks. “An Elf Christmas” is set to begin with Santa and Mrs. Claus available for photos at the Phillips County Museum from 3-6 p.m.

The Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department’s annual soup supper will be served at the Vets Hall from 4-7 p.m., with freewill donations benefiting the department’s annual 4th of July fireworks show.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will lead a “lighting the city” ceremony at Phillips County Court House at 6 p.m., followed by the Parade of Lights. The parade, sponsored by Highline Electric Association and CHS High Plains, will begin at 6:15 p.m. near Golden Plains Motel and will travel north on Interocean Avenue.

The Clauses will be available for candid photos after the parade at the Peerless Theatre until 8 p.m. Be sure to bring your own camera or phone!

Complimentary hay rides will be offered downtown from 4-8 p.m., and several businesses will be open late and offering special holiday sales all night. Home-based businesses and organizations will have vendor booths set up in the Peerless Theatre from 4-8 p.m., and Viaero Wireless will be hosting a trunk show with vendors set up in the store, plus snacks and hot drinks, from 4-8 p.m.
