Phillips County Sheriff’s Office’s newest deputy, Nathon Nadow, hit the beat Dec. 11, bringing with him three and a half years of experience as a corrections officer and a lifelong passion for law enforcement.
Nadow and his wife, Ashley, currently live in Iliff but are planning to move to Phillips County as soon as space opens up. Having grown up in Keenesburg, Nadow said he’s no stranger to rural living and looks forward to integrating into the local community.
“Country living is a lot nicer than city living,” he said. “I’m hoping to stay out here for quite a few years.”
Nadow grew up in a law enforcement family — his father and uncle both served as master troopers in the Colorado State Patrol. He said he used to put on his father’s CSP uniform and look at himself in the mirror when he was a young child and formerly dreamed of joining the state police.
Nadow began working for the Department of Corrections in December 2014, which he saw as a stepping stone to the CSP. As his career progressed, however, he became more attracted to roles in local law enforcement. He left his job at Sterling Correctional Facility in July and attended a law enforcement training program through Otero Junior College, during which he found a job with PCSO.
Nadow said he likes the outdoors and enjoys pheasant and duck hunting. He also likes to fish and is an avid hiker. Last summer, he and his wife completed Mount Princeton — one of Colorado’s 53 14er peaks.
