December kicks off with Country Christmas

Holyoke is ringing in the Christmas season with Holyoke Chamber of Commerce’s annual Country Christmas event Monday, Dec. 2.

“The Night Before Christmas” is the theme for a full schedule of activities throughout the evening.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Phillips County Museum for free pictures with children from 4-6 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. A freewill donation will also be accepted.

At 4:30 p.m., everyone is invited to the Peerless for the “Playing with Fire” movie, with tickets sponsored by the City of Holyoke.

Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department is serving a soup supper at the Vets Hall from 5-8 p.m. Freewill donations will benefit the July Fourth fireworks.

Be sure to bundle up for the 6:30 p.m. Parade of Lights, sponsored by Highline Electric Association and CHS Grainland. Floats will travel north through town on Interocean Avenue, ending with an appearance by Santa.

Country Christmas is also a great time to get a start on holiday shopping. Many businesses and vendors are offering specials and will be open late on Monday night.
