Easter schedules set
As the season of Lent comes to a close, area churches have announced their schedules for services throughout Holy Week and Easter Sunday, April 16.
Emerson Street Church of Christ
Emerson Street Church of Christ will hold a Sunday morning service April 16 at 10 a.m.
Fairfield Covenant Church
Fairfield Covenant Church will hold an Easter breakfast at 9 a.m. before the Sunday service at 10 a.m.
First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church will gather for a Resurrection Sunday sunrise service at 6:15 a.m. with a hot breakfast to follow.
A baptism service will take place at 9:30 a.m., and regularly scheduled services will take place Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m.
Vida Abundante
Vida Abundante will hold a Resurrection Sunday service in Spanish at 5:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Holyoke.
First Christian Church
Holyoke First Christian Church has an Easter morning breakfast planned for Sunday, April 16, from 7-8:30 a.m. An Easter service will follow at 9 a.m.
First United Methodist Church
First United Methodist Church of Holyoke will hold a Seder Meal at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 13. Friday and Saturday, April 14-15, the sanctuary will be left open all day for Stations of the Cross.
There will be two Easter services Sunday morning in Holyoke, with the first at 8:15 a.m. An Easter egg hunt is planned at 10 a.m., before the second service at 10:30 a.m.
Holyoke Assembly of God
A Good Friday service will be hosted by Holyoke Assembly of God Friday at 6:30 p.m. An Easter breakfast is scheduled for Resurrection Sunday at 9:30 a.m. with a worship service to follow at 10:30 a.m.
Holyoke Church of Christ
Holyoke Church of Christ will meet for its regularly scheduled service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning with Bible study at 10:30 a.m.
Pleasant Valley United Methodist
Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church will host a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. A 10 a.m. service Friday is planned at the Leroy church, also.
Easter Sunday, a sunrise service is set for 5:30 a.m. atop of Old Baldy at Yuma County roads 54 and U. A breakfast at the church will follow, and a worship service will be held at 8:30 a.m.
At the Leroy church, an Easter sunrise service will be held at 6 a.m., with an additional service to be held at 11 a.m.
St. Patrick Catholic Church
A Holy Thursday Mass of the Last Supper is scheduled at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for 6:30 p.m.
Good Friday, there will be a Veneration of the Cross with Eucharist service at noon at Christ the King Catholic Church in Haxtun, one at 3 p.m. at St. Peter’s in Fleming and another at 6:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s, preceded by the Divine Mercy novena at 6:15 p.m.
St. Patrick’s will hold an Easter Vigil Mass Holy Saturday at 8:15 p.m. Christ the King will host its Easter Sunday Mass of the Resurrection at 8:30 a.m., and another will be hosted at St. Peter’s at 10:30 a.m.
A bilingual Easter Sunday Mass is also set for 1 p.m. at St. Patrick’s.
St. Paul’s Lutheran churches
St. Paul’s Lutheran churches in Amherst and Venango, Nebraska, will hold a combined Maundy Thursday service in Amherst Thursday, at 7 p.m. The two churches will hold another combined service Friday at 7 p.m. in Venango for Good Friday.
Venango will hold its Easter sunrise service Sunday at 6:30 a.m. Amherst will have its Easter worship service at 9 a.m.
Venango Community Church
A breakfast will be hosted by Venango Community Church Sunday at 8:30 a.m with an Easter service following around 9:30 a.m.
Zion Lutheran Church and Ministerio Hispano
Zion Lutheran Church is planning a Maundy Thursday service for 7 p.m., Good Friday youth Tenebrae service at 7 p.m. and special combined Easter Sunday services with Ministerio Hispano at 9 a.m.
