Elliott is sworn in as sheriff

The Phillips County Board of Commissioners has appointed Thom Elliott as the new sheriff. He was sworn in Wednesday, Nov. 22, by county judge Kim Killin at the Phillips County Court House and began his term the following day.
Elliott has served as the undersheriff in Phillips County for the last 13 years. His promotion to sheriff came after Rob Urbach submitted his resignation to accept a position in the auto division of the Colorado Department of Revenue.
Since April 2002, Elliott and his wife, Julie, have called Holyoke home. It is where they raised their daughter, Camille, who now lives in Kentucky. For the first two years he lived in Holyoke, Elliott worked as a deputy sheriff. Prior to that, he spent 10 years as a deputy in Cheyenne County. His career in law enforcement began when he served as a military police officer in the Army for six years.
Elliott noted he is thankful for the support he has received from his wife and from the county commissioners, as well as the citizens of Phillips County, as he makes this transition. He will fill the role until the 2018 general election.
