Emergency trauma conference brings high-quality education to rural providers

    Despite uncooperative weather, the first Northeastern Colorado Emergency Trauma Conference was held at Phillips County Event Center last weekend, Feb. 22-24. The conference is intended to become an annual training designed for rural providers. It was brought to the area by Melissa Memorial Hospital and Holyoke EMS.
    Friday featured an optional eight-hour preconference workshop, with the main conference held Saturday and Sunday. While the event was catered to all levels of providers — police, firefighters, first responders, EMS, nurses and hospital providers — three different tracks meant that individuals could receive training tailored to their needs. The tracks were for first responders, EMS personnel and other providers.
