Every seat is a safer child
Fourteen car seats were inspected and one was replaced at the Saturday, May 20, Child Seat Safety Check Point at the Holyoke Municipal Building.
“I’m pleased,” said Michelle Pemberton of the Northeast Colorado Health Department. “We have that many children safer than they were.”
Through the joint efforts of the NCHD, Holyoke Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Holyoke EMS and Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department, the child seats were inspected for safety and proper installment.
CSP estimates that as many as 90 percent of car seats are installed incorrectly. In addition, according to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, motor vehicle injuries are the greatest public health problem facing children today. These factors made this a very valuable event.
