Firefighters honored at banquet

    Members of Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department were honored Thursday, April 26, at the 97th anniversary of the HVFD annual banquet at Phillips County Event Center.
    Annual awards included:
    —Department Badge: Lucas Hayes, Gabe Hubbard, Kacia Westfahl, Jason Borland, Anita Lengfelder and Morgan Eurich. This badge is given to new members.
    —Membership Pins: Scott Korte, Dustin Carrick and Spencer Kotch. These members were recognized for completing their rookie year with the department.
    —Ex-Chief’s Badge: Stacy Rueter.
    —Retirement Badge: Brian Adams. This award is given to firefighters who have served 20 years or more upon retirement.
    —Service Year Pins: Steve Young, 25 years; Bob Heldenbrand, 25 years; Rueter, 15 years; Phil Wirges, 15 years; Rod Trumper, 15 years; John Durbin, 10 years; Josh Young, five years; and Matt Winterrowd, five years.
    —President’s Attendance Award: Shaun Beck and Lance Murray. Both attended all 24 meetings in 2017.
    —Brotherhood Training Award: Murray. He completed the most hours of training at 76.75 hours.
    —Donny Carrick Fire Response Award: Heldenbrand. He responded to the most calls with 53 out of 63.
