First Friday is discovery day at Prairie Winds Art Center
Kathy Wernsman and Nancy Dee will be facilitating a class on “Creating Your Journal or Planner or Sketchbook” Friday, May 4, at 7 p.m. at Prairie Winds Art Center in Holyoke.
This is part of the newly-created First Friday events to offer an evening of art discovery and more.
Those attending will design and create the covers of a blank notebook with collage and mixed media to make the book uniquely their own. Then the class will explore ways to use the book and explain the concept of keeping a bullet journal.
The bullet journal is a very functional way of keeping a to-do list, a notebook, a diary, a planner — all combined into one blank journal book using key symbols like dots, stars, dashes, etc.
It is not only a great way to plan one’s day and to get organized, but is also a great place to set goals, get creative and create a keepsake record of one’s life. This could include work projects, family memory makers, all the events of the year in a book as simple or as complicated as one would like it to be.
