Former PC Telcom building gutted ahead of demolition for fire station

PC Telcom’s former cable TV headquarters on West Denver Street is being disconnected from utilities pending its demolition, City Superintendent Mark Brown told Holyoke City Council at its Dec. 18 meeting.
Brown later said that the only thing remaining on the property is the structure itself, which will be torn down to make way for the new Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department station.
Brown said city crews are working to remove electrical and water services from the former site of PC Telcom’s cable TV operation.
All electrical and plumbing fixtures, including the meter pit by the street, have been removed from the property. The street department also helped with emptying the building.
The West Denver Street property was purchased by the City earlier this year to accommodate a new station for the HVFD.
The council also heard an update on the fire shed from Brown and council member Steve Moore. Brown said an estimate on the construction of the shed is pending, and Moore said discussion of the building has been put on hold pending a proposal.
