Foundation honors individuals with Legacy of Thanks awards

Several individuals received awards this fall through Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Legacy of Thanks program.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, a public celebration was canceled for the second year in a row; however, the foundation honored the recipients at a small reception Wednesday, Nov. 17, at MMH.

Outstanding Business was awarded to Blisties (Rich and Elida Cummings) and Happy Jacks Barbeque (Allyn and Sheila Robinson) for their catering services at the MMHF Legacy Event and other hospital events.

Michael R. Hajek, M.D., was the recipient of the Outstanding Philanthropist award. He is a great supporter of the Legacy Event by donating auction items as well as purchasing tables and inviting staff from MMH and surrounding communities to join him.

Outstanding Adult Volunteers were Lane and Tina Looka. They are serving as back-to-back Legacy Event decorating chairs for 2021 and 2022 and are this year’s Christmas parade float chairmen for MMHF. The couple puts much time and energy into all they do for the foundation.

The 2021 Outstanding Youth award went to Tristen Roll for being a chauffeur at the last three Legacy Events and Theron Roll and Tristen Ferguson for serving as doormen for this year’s event.

The MMH Angel award was presented to Gabe Bazan, MMH IT director. He gave much of his time and tech skills to develop a Family Feud game for the live auction at the 2020 Legacy Event.
