Fundraising and building committees visit Mustang Pavilion in Kim

Phillips County Board of Commissioners reported activity for the month of September at its Friday, Sept. 29, meeting, noting that Pavilion fundraising and building committees recently traveled to Kim.
In Kim, located in the southeastern part of the state, members of the committees toured the Mustang Pavilion, which is very similar to the Pavilion and Education Center being planned in Phillips County. The group visited with the primary instigator of the Kim project and received valuable insight for their own planning efforts.

Planning commission makes recommendations
In September, the County also accepted several recommendations from the planning commission. An application was received from Don Schelling to rezone a 2.5-acre tract in the SE ¼ of Section 17, T7N, R47W, approximately 4.5 miles south of Haxtun on Colorado Highway 59, immediately adjacent to Red J Welding site.
The board held a public hearing, where it received no comments. The application was approved, rezoning the tract from agricultural to commercial. Schelling intends to open a landscaping business at the site.
