Glow-a-thon shines light on cancer awareness, raises funds

It was a dark night sky Saturday evening, Sept. 22, but 50 walkers/runners and over 50 luminaria were a shining light at the Melissa Memorial Hospital Glow-a-thon 5K. Participants were given glow bracelets, and paper lanterns lit the way down a path around the hospital. Many walked in memory or in honor of people who have had cancer, including a three-generation family, pictured from left, Minnie Rodriguez, Janel Flores and Marqus Flores. Approximately $1,200 was raised to help with the re-opening of the MMH chemotherapy mixing room.
