Gratitude expressed by hospital foundation

With honor and humility, Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation recognized and remembered individuals and families for their contributions and generosity at the Legacy of Thanks celebration Sunday, Nov. 12, at MMH.
Following a light lunch, awards were presented by MMHF board president Linda Alberts and board secretary and director of nursing Julianne Kramer.
Kimberlee Bennett and Linda Statz were honored as Outstanding Adult Volunteers. Bennett was recognized for the time she has dedicated to checking in and out coats at the Legacy Event. Statz was distinguished for her time and expertise in giving each guest a special welcome at the Legacy Event registration table each year.
Outstanding Youth Awards were given to Dominique and Juana Penzing. They were recognized for their assistance in greeting guests at the welcome table Building New Bridges events.
Michael Auction Service was awarded Outstanding Business. Alberts noted that Lloyd and Mary Michael have generously given to the Legacy Events for the past seven years as the auctioneer and helping earn top dollar for the live auction. They also donate a barbecue dinner for eight prepared by Lloyd to be auctioned during the live auction.
The Jelden family including Dennis, Linda, Anna and Emily, were named Outstanding Philanthropist. Kramer pointed out that the family has given much throughout the years. They are always first to purchase a table for the Legacy Event and choose to give their seats to others and serve the meal instead. Dr. Jelden serves coffee and dessert while bidding on live auction items all at the same time, added Kramer. Also the family is very generous in giving for Pink Out events which fund the MMH mammography scholarship.
MMH “Angel” award went to three deserving recipients this year. This award is given to MMH employees who have given above and beyond in the past year to the foundation.
Human resource director Sharon Greenman, specialty clinic manager Mary Kay Knode and administrative assistant Diana Baeza were recognized for their contribution as co-chairs in recruiting MMH staff as servers for the 2017 Legacy Event. All three have volunteered once again for 2018. In addition, all three were recognized for their dedication and expertise given as part of the MMH team.
MMHF executive director Nancy Colglazier announced a patient room designation recognizing the Wernet family. The foundation received a $25,000 donation from Ty and Patty Wernet in honor of their family members. Ty is the son of Boyce Wernet and the brother of the late Londa Bradford.
