Great racing recorded despite cool temps

Car count was great, the track was great, and the show was great — all at Open Wheel Mayhem and IMCA Madness Saturday, May 12, at the Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke.
Cooler temps and lots of local activities impacted the size of the crowd, but BST Racing promoter Joe Bellm said he hopes to see a larger crowd at Motor Madness Saturday, May 26, starting at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, those who attended Saturday’s event witnessed some good racing. The URSS IMCA sprint car spring nationals, as well as the USAC lightning sprints, were featured in addition to the five  regular IMCA divisions of modifieds, stock cars, sport mods, hobby stocks and compacts.
Bellm joined the racing action as he won the stock car division. Locals Garrett Sporhase of Holyoke and Justin Bussell of Imperial, Nebraska, finished second and fourth, respectively, in modifieds.
