Health department celebrates public health stars
During the first full week of April each year, the American Public Health Association brings together communities across the United States to observe National Public Health Week. It is a time to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are critical to improving the nation.
The Northeast Colorado Health Department celebrated public health champions in the community last week, including public health Shining Star and Excellence in Food Safety awards.
According to Dr. Tony Cappello, public health director for the NCHD, “We are always excited to recognize individuals within our communities that have a positive impact on public health. Both awards are very significant as they honor those whose hard work and dedication lead to the betterment of our communities and go above and beyond in protecting the public’s health.”
