MMH decorates bras for mammogram scholarship

It’s October, and that means breast cancer awareness. Holyoke High School football and volleyball teams will be hosting their annual Pink Out games, and Melissa Memorial Hospital has an interactive competition to raise funds for their mammography scholarship fund, all in the spirit of “honoring the taken, supporting the fighters and admiring the survivors.”
Both HHS volleyball and football will be playing Yuma Friday, Oct. 13. Volleyball begins at 4 p.m., and football at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink  or the 2017 Dragon Pink Out shirt in support of breast cancer awareness. During the games, there will be a silent auction and bake sale, with proceeds going to the MMH mammography scholarship.
A fundraiser set up at the Family Practice of Holyoke will also go toward the scholarship fund. Sixteen bras have been decorated and are on display in the clinic. Each department decorated one, and it’s up to the public to decide which is best. A donation to the scholarship means a vote for the best bra. The display will be up throughout the month of October for voting.
At the Oct. 13 Pink Out games, representatives from MMH and the MMH Foundation will be in the HHS commons area to answer questions about the available services. MMH will also be offering reduced-price, pre-scheduled mammograms at the health fair Saturday, Oct. 21. To schedule, call 970-854-2241.
