Holyoke helps with hearts of hope

In the last two years, 2,500 breast cancer patients have found hope and healing through a simple heart pillow, and Holyoke has just helped that number grow.

The Sew Caring group, which meets at Creative Traditions, volunteered its time to sew pillows for the JWILL Pink Village Thursday, Nov. 7.

Holyoke’s Sandy Triplette was there to explain how to sew the pillows and also help Sew Caring see how they are contributing to the nonprofit started by Triplette’s daughter, Jen Willard, of Superior.

When Willard had breast cancer in 2015, she found herself receiving a heart-shaped pillow through a random act of kindness, and now she’s paying it forward.

The JWILL Pink Village pillows are given to cancer patients who have had a mastectomy.
