Holyoke shines in 2018 light contest

With the season in full-swing, Holyoke’s cadre of Christmas fanatics are pulling out all of the stops — stringing lights, inflating front-yard Santas, and trying their best to spread the holiday bug.
Holyoke’s 27th annual lighting contest was judged last Thursday, Dec. 13, recognizing three houses as having the best of the best in Christmas decorations.
Aaron and Angela Powell at 641 S. Reynolds Ave. won first place and a $100 cash prize. Lisa and Mark Werts at 422 S. Wynona Ave. took home second place and $50, and the $25 third-place prize went to Jeremy Thompson at 621 S. Bowman Ave.
