Honoring our heroes

With a bundle of flags in one hand, Mendi Lutze uses the other to straighten a flag she is placing on the grave of a veteran at Holyoke Cemetery last Friday, May 22. Although there wasn’t a traditional Memorial Day program this year due to the pandemic, a wide array of flags, flowers and other decorations at the cemetery were a proud reminder of the Memorial Day holiday. A crew of volunteers was on hand to place 305 veteran flags on Friday and remove them on Monday.
