Hospital identifies 5 priorities, implements 3-year roadmap

A community health implementation strategy for 2022-24 was accepted by the board of directors of East Phillips County Hospital District at its June 28 meeting.

Melissa Memorial Hospital will utilize this implementation strategy as a roadmap to collaborate with its community to address the priorities that were identified, particularly for the most vulnerable.

MMH Director of Quality Karen Hooker explained that a community health needs assessment was conducted in May and June. Community input was provided through a stakeholder meeting, a town hall and a health survey.

The identified health needs were reviewed by MMH management and were prioritized based on the size and severity of the issue, prevalence of common themes and alignment with hospital goals/resources.

The first priority is community health awareness. Strategies include promoting services available at MMH, increasing patient and family advisory council membership and expanding its scope of activities, developing patient testimonies and partnering with Area Agency on Aging.
