Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra swings into town Feb. 16

Phillips County Arts Council presents the swinging sounds of Colorado’s own Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra for the second concert in the 2019-2020 season. The Hot Tomatoes were a special feature concert on Valentine’s Day in 2016 and received much acclaim for their appearance.

This year’s concert will be Sunday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. in the Holyoke High School auditorium. PCAC members will be admitted with their PCAC season tickets, and nonmember tickets will be available at the door. Students will be admitted for free.

The Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra was formed in 1982 by former leader Ron Cope. With renewed interest in the swing era and swing dancing, the Hot Tomatoes transformed itself from a 1920s-style band to a swing era band, performing numbers from Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and many others. The Hot Tomatoes soon became a regional favorite for concertgoers and dancers alike. Not only have they performed in the Denver and Front Range area but also across the western United States and Canada.
