Bed and breakfasts regulated

Did you know that the Holyoke Municipal Code addresses bed and breakfasts? They are allowed in one- and two-family residences but must meet certain criteria, including an annual permit that costs $25.

Sec. 17.16.020.
Permitted uses — R-E and R-1 districts.
The following uses are permitted in the R-E and R-1 (one-family or two-family residence) districts:
(13) Bed and breakfast uses shall be permitted, provided:
a. The owner/operator shall pay an annual permit fee as set from time to time by action of the city council and set out in the fee schedule;
b. The owner/operator shall reside on the premises;
c. No more than four guestrooms are allowed; and
d. Meals offered to guests will be limited to breakfast only.
