It’s a toaster! It’s a squirrel trap! It’s a ... liebesgeschenk?

    Just beating the snowstorm that passed through Holyoke last weekend, the Phillips County Players wrapped up their season with a production that felt especially timely with the winter weather. “The ReGifters” by Robert Lynn is centered on the Christmas festivities of four very different households. Granted, “festivities” might be a bit of a stretch in some of their cases.
    For three showings at the Event Center on Jan. 19-20, audiences were cracking up at the dialogue and delivery. To top it off, they were left with a heartfelt message about love and selflessness.
    Loras and Bridget Henshaw were played by Pete and Susan Markle. Loras seemed almost physically attached to the finance section in his newspaper. Bridget proved unimpressed by her husband’s priorities but delighted in delivering verbal jabs any chance she got.
    Tom and Mary Mulligan, played by Eric Conklin and Janel Wailes, kept an actual tally of who gave and received gifts. After all, they couldn’t go spending more money on someone than they deserved.
