Kids pass, dribble and shoot in Nuggets challenge

In Holyoke’s first local Nuggets Skills Challenge, 10 kids came ready to compete. Most were from Holyoke, but Wray was represented as well at the Jan. 28 event hosted by the City of Holyoke recreation department.
Held at Holyoke High School, the challenge consisted of passing, dribbling and shooting. To test their passing skills, kids had 30 seconds to hit a target as many times as they could. The farther away they were, the more points each successful pass was worth.
In dribbling, the kids were timed as they weaved in and out through a course of cones.
Finishing off the competition was shooting. Again, competitors had 30 seconds to make as many baskets as they could, and more points were awarded for shots from farther away.
