Kinnie, Hofmeister contend for county commissioner seat
Phillips County’s June 26 primary election is shaping up to have plenty of competition among the Republican candidates, with three contested races.
At the March 25 Republican County Assembly at the Phillips County Event Center, delegates from the eight precincts voted for the candidates they wanted to be on the primary ballot. To earn a position on the ballot, a candidate had to receive at least 30 percent of the votes.
Contenders for district 1 county commissioner are incumbent Joe Kinnie and Terry Hofmeister. Sheriff candidates are incumbent Thom Elliott and William “J.R.” Myers. Seeking the county treasurer seat are incumbent Linda Statz and Sharon Michael.
Running uncontested are Doug Kamery for assessor and Beth Zilla for clerk.
Party chairman Steve Young said that about 75 people attended Sunday’s assembly.
Lincoln Day Dinner features state candidates
Also on March 25 at the Event Center, preceding the county assembly, was the Lincoln Day Dinner.
