Learn about creating historical costumes at Wray Museum

In living history, there is a force that drives participants to be as historically accurate as possible. The Wray Museum invites the public to join in on Monday, Aug. 27, at 6:30 p.m. for an education program on creating a historical costume.
Members of the 4-H Western Heritage group will present their historical characters, as well as how they created their costumes. Next, Ardith Hendrix, Wray Museum director, will share some practical and informative guides for anyone planning to create accurate period costumes for theatrical productions and historical reenactments.
Participants will be able to start a swatch booklet with detailed notes for making costumes, including suggestions for the most suitable colors and textures to be used for costumes of particular historical periods. A final section includes diagrams and information for finding period shoes and accessories.
